MEDIA ALERT: Town of Geneva Supervisor Mark Venuti and Joule Community Power to Host Public Information Sessions on Oct. 28th

WHAT
On Monday, October 28th, Town of Geneva Supervisor Mark Venuti and Joule Community Power CEO Mike Gordon will host a public information session about the two new clean energy options available to residents and businesses: (1) Finger Lakes Community Choice, an opt-out CCA and (2) opt-in community solar program Geneva Community Power. The hosts will describe details of both programs, answer questions, and explain how the two programs complement each other. CCA discussions will include information about how electricity is purchased, pricing, contract length, energy sources, enrollment, opting out, and the various supply options available to those who participate. Community solar discussion will cover contract terms, the savings guarantee, bill credits, and the projected date credits will appear on subscribers’ bills. For residents’ convenience, we’re offering two meeting times (with the same agenda); the public is invited to attend either session.

WHY
This is an opportunity for residents and business owners to learn how the CCA and community solar programs complement each other, and how each stand alone as a separate opportunity. Those present will learn how the Finger Lakes Community Choice program launched this summer protects them against price hikes and how they can exit from the program if they don’t want the protection. They’ll also learn how to enroll in the solar program the solar program that offers subscribers guaranteed savings of approximately 10% annually for supporting solar generation. The savings is made possible by NY State incentives for renewable generation sources.  The program is open to all NYSEG customers, regardless of their participation in the CCA.  Both the CCA and community solar programs are administered by Joule Community Power.

The Town of Geneva and Joule Community Power have partnered to establish Finger Lakes Community Choice. This Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) program enables Geneva to pool local electricity demand in order to leverage the collective buying power of its residents and small businesses in effort to secure more favorable energy supply rates and designate renewable generation sources. The Town of Geneva and Joule Community Power have partnered to establish this community solar program that gives back to the community and enables subscribers who support clean energy generation to spend less on electricity. Geneva Community Power is a local renewable energy program serving residents and businesses in the NY Finger Lakes region. Those who enroll save approximately 10% annually on electricity for up to 25 years by supporting clean energy generation.
