***Media Alert***
Joule Community Power and its Rochester-based partner, Roctricity, have designed a program that offers two clean electricity opportunities: an opt out community choice aggregation program and an opt-in community solar program that provides participants annual savings of approximately 10%.
WHAT
On Thursday, October 16, Supervisor David Seeley and the Monroe Community Power team will host a public information session about new clean energy choices that will be available to residents and small businesses in the Town of Irondequoit and some other Monroe County municipalities next year. Sue Hughes-Smith, a principal in Roctricity, will explain the program details and answering questions about impending clean energy program. Town Supervisor David Seeley and other Irondequoit Town Board members will be in attendance.

WHY
This is an opportunity for Irondequoit residents and businesses to learn about the options they will have as a result of the Town Board of Irondequoit decision to seek the purchase of 100% renewable electricity for its residents at a cost lower than the average electricity default supply during the previous 12 months.
About Monroe Community Power
Monroe Community Power is a Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) program comprised of 4 communities in Monroe County and formed in partnership with Joule Community Power. The program enables participating communities to pool local electricity demand in order to leverage the collective buying power of their residents and small businesses in effort to secure more favorable energy supply rates and designate renewable generation sources. The participating communities include Town of Brighton, Town of Irondequoit, Town of Pittsford, and Village of Pittsford.
About Roctricity
As Local Program Manager, Roctricity will provide local program support, education, and outreach for Monroe Community Power. An outgrowth of the Rochester People's Climate Coalition, Roctricity was formed to bring CCA to communities in the (very broadly defined) greater Rochester area. Roctricity seeks to provide the focus, agility, and transparency to the local CCA effort. Roctricty's four founding partners have been driving the effort to bring CCA to the Rochester area since 2016. With a wealth of expertise, they are uniquely suited to educate municipal leaders and the public regarding issues related to CCA policy and implementation. Roctricity is advocating for community acquisition of electricity that is 100% renewable, or carbon free, that is procured at prices lower than what consumers currently pay for electricity.
About Joule Community Power
Joule Community Power (Joule) works with municipalities and local partners to empower communities and facilitate their goals of providing residents and businesses with cleaner and cheaper energy. Joule principals were responsible for implementing New York State’s first Community Choice Aggregation Program (CCA)—a program that enables communities to aggregate local energy demand in order to: 1) save money—gain leverage to procure less expensive electricity for residents and businesses, 2) make money—create new revenue opportunities by participating in energy markets, and 3) go green—gain local control to opt for clean and renewable generation sources. Joule is the only company in New York State offering CCA administrative services with a Public Service Commission-approved implementation plan that integrates local renewable energy projects, and only Joule has the expertise, relationships, and experience to effectively design, implement, and manage such a program. Joule’s innovative renewable energy strategy in New York is driving new regulation and encouraging the Public Service Commission to rapidly advance innovative solutions. Learn more at:
